Deputy Director of Science and Foreign Relations

Prior to joining GNHI, Dr. Kotetishvili was Acting Director of the Institute of Microbial Genetics and Biotechnology, and Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics in School of Natural Sciences and Medicine, Ilia State University. He served as paid consultant for the National Tuberculosis Program in Georgia. In the earlier years of his career, he worked as Scientist, and was Member of Science Committee at ATCC (Manassas, VA, USA), the company being a global leader in biological materials management and standards. He was also Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, and Member of Science and other committees in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, School of Medicine, University of Maryland, Baltimore, MD, USA. Dr. Kotetishvili has served as Ed-hoc Reviewer and/or Editorial Board Member for the world’s leading international scientific journals, including Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Journal of Bacteriology, Journal of Virology, American Journal of Infection Control, Journal of Infection and Immunity, Journal of Infectious Diseases, Journal of Applied and Environmental Microbiology, and Journal of Foodborne Pathogens and Disease. He is Academician of the Academy of Educational Sciences of Georgia.
